Brooklyn from https://fission.codes/ replied my fan letter. Big brain insight on Ceramic/Self-Sovereign Data/Local-first development 🤩🤩🤩 https://i.imgur.com/HzVC8ua.jpg

especially good insight on ceramic as well -- standard model of having mutable pointers for immutable data, but hard to push and receive the proper updates from their stream

i don't think there's a great solution for that or for local first data in web3, but there are certainly enough people in the space and advancements being made that new data standards will be set over the next few years

mutable & immutable data. end to end encrypted data livestreams & multiplayer sync graphs, documents, relational, all automatically cryptographically signed 67K ops/sec browser to browser on consumer hardware. --- I have 0 interest in Ethereum But I will accept PRs that improve integrations.

@marknadal Huge fan of your work - I remember us briefly chatting in some of the early Gun IRC servers back in back in 2017/18 when I was first playing w/ Gun. Still think about the project all the time and would love to find some way to use it in my projects - espc in a web3 fashion(tying the data to a wallet)

Curious what some of the most popular storage solutions are for teams using Gun currently -- would love to dive in and see if there's part of the stack that can either be decentralized or in some way point to blockchain/L2 records.

Storage engine is our own, it's also decentralized. Every blockchain related thing that has tried to integrate, has never been able to handle GUN's speed. So not sure how that'd be possible. Tho maybe take that as a challenge? šŸ˜…

my main question re: decentralization would be - how many peers are running that makes it decentralized & how does that affect speed of the read/writes? and only two reasons I'd think about blockchain integration: - tying records to identity - it's a public, immutable ledger

There's was about 14 million peers this month. Public key cryptography existed before blockchain. :) It's better for identity to be offline-first šŸ˜…. Do you want your identity to have it's GPS coordinates saved 1000 times/sec to a public ledger? Prob not. GUN is private.
