Should Farcaster decouple clients from algorithms and moderation?

We could design a common api specification that allows algorithm providers to be plugged in to any existing client.

The main thing against this I think is that it's not clear to me whether the algorithm is actually the main product a client provides.

It wouldn't be performant without a lot of work.

Modern consumer apps use machine learning and the algo needs to be fast.

If it's not fast and supplying a lot of content, people churn.

Has atproto had success with this? 

I’m not familiar with the DX for building app views for atproto but I know this was in the purview of their design choices.

Last I checked, they don't use machine learning algo feeds?

No, they have one client but they are working on programmable feeds.

Yeah, aware of the feed approach. 

Just don't think that's what average user wants (nerds definitely will find it interesting, I certainly do).
