we need batteries so badly right now. every house needs a EV car sized pack on the wall. before we put ev's in every driveway.

Unfortunately intermitting sources like renewables can't replace a stable source like fossil... The costs and difficulty of making power grids able to cover the peaks renewables produce is really high; and we also have problems with accumulation systems: batteries are very expensive and we would need a lot of them to be sure everyone can keep their current lifestyle. Germany is witnessing that really well. They put a ban on nuclear energy to go full speed into renewables. The result is that they are not able to cover the energy demand and they need to keep coal plants active 24/7 to supply the country needs, being now one of the most polluting countries of Europe. You can see it here: https://app.electricitymaps.com/map Renewables are very important in the transition but I really think a reliable base layer of nuclear energy is needed to cover the demand. This is just my thought on this :)
