But -- wouldn't TikTok be a perfect example of this? ByteDance, a Chinese software startup, had to build a compelling product and a user base outside of the US before it could succeed in the US. And what happen to Vine is evidence as to why new Social Media products struggle to succeed if initialized in the US.

Worth noting that (2) are both very weird edge-cases: • BeReal: nostalgia app, basically IG 1.0 • Clubhouse: never-seen-before pandemic Innovation in social is clearly being constrained if you have to ship an asterisk of a feature or need a global consumer behavior shift to exist. Social has to be creatively freed
