186 new Farcaster channels created in less than 24 hours since going permissionless. 162 before. 348 total now. 114% growth. And all of the new ones cost ~$25.

In the spirit of decentralization, are there plans to distribute ownership of channels? At present, the Law & Policy channel depends on whether or not I put 2,500 warps into it next year — but what if the channel could earn its own warps? Then the members can vote on its survival.

But even today, what's stoping you from asking members to contribute warps for next year's renewal? Also, you obviously get something out of managing the channel (joy, exposure, status, connections, it's different for each admin). Is is worth spending $25/year for it, or not?

Totally agree with you, not questioning what I get out the channel or the value of $25 — but what happens if I get locked out of my account? Or if I forget to renew next year? Do we also have trust in sending warps to largely unknown channel creators?

1. We’re figuring all this out. If channels don’t work we will refund the fee. 2. You’re sending the $25 to Warpcast for now. If it works, to the protocol.
