Edit buttons should be medium priority, though. It was one of Twitter's most demanded features for a reason. Restricting edits to only < 1 hr does reduce the utility, but it's better than having to delete a post or add a correction as a comment on the original post (which people might not see).

How about a higher character limit? I never used Twitter actively until I could purchase premium and post long-form tweets. Now, I wouldn't want to post text walls all the time--but sometimes it helps to not have to constrain ideas to fit with the character limit. Editing will often mess up flow.
