yea, it’s really not working. if those 200 are getting 10s of thousands of followers from being on the list and only getting like 200 engagement at best something is wrong.

that way you introduce a few useful mechanisms: 1. big guys are challenged to create great content, because every new 1k of their base will need to be matched on the engagement rate side, otherwise they lose the privilege 2. every gets a chance to grow - only feedback from others matters in terms of being exposed to new users, automatically. 3. since it's dynamic, you can create a lot of gamification around it to further incentivize the great content creation and real engagement.

re2. you should apply “time-limited” auto follow flag to accounts that have been scoring uniquely well in relative terms (avg engagement rate %) over the last x casts in the last y days. and then periodically revaluate whether there still is a reason for keeping the flag on. autofollow flag gives you a boost in the denominator of the metric so you need to work harder on quality of casts to bring engagement (nominator).
