Feels like my former Twitter community fragmented. Farcaster owns the crypto crowd, Mastodon various wonky sub communities, Bluesky some amount of crazy Twitter addicts, Threads some random mishmash of journalists. Twitter still best if you want to shitpost and troll.

Hi Dan! In my piece, I concluded that I didn't think Twitter would go away because it would be hard to scale a clone and it wasn't even an attractive business to be in. I think that's largely held. Twitter still exists but is weakened, there are clones but none are super scaled.

One thing it's important to understand is the consequences of going to a TikTok style algorithm. That always vastly shifts the distribution to be more power-law in nature; a smaller % of users get way more distribution. This is good for some types of tweets, but bad for the health of the community.
