Channels are in a stable enough spot right now. Still have some iteration to do. But I don't think of them as a core developer lego quite yet (relative to all of the other priorities).

Honestly, it fully makes sense - it's just that as someone with limited time/resources I'm reading every microsignal I can to try and weigh what to spend more energy on and channels is one of my big question marks. I appreciate the better discovery tabs in warpcast and generally remain hopeful for the ecosystem!

no hate to warpcast, but for /okbanger we have to decide basically now whether we want to gamble on channels, lean into a subreddit, or build a discord we don’t have the capacity for more than one so it’s super salient to our decision making rn

A few things off the dome: -Direct onboarding will be big, subsidized onboarding will be bigger -Someone mentioned alt layouts (like forum style vs Twitter style feed) and that’s been sitting with me bc the current model clearly isn’t it but I’m unsure what is but a diff model would facilitate depth which you don’t get from main feed - Reply boosting (I’m getting conviction that recency over “best” matters more in cozy corners bc the value prop is connection) - Topic hierarchy - very hard to mentally parse what a channel is without a curated sorting mechanism (I realized everything I did with automod was a naive version of this Less reasonable ask is getting distribution to the channel from Farcaster algo, but we’re honestly like “okay if we have to bring everyone to the channel ourself, why would I ask someone to download a new app when they already have discord” - I get why y’all turned it off ofc tho Tagging @christin for more thoughts
