Maybe I'm missing something but why couldnt @dwr.eth simply give channels based on ENS names ?

That way he can go to squatters and request they relinquish channels not becoz he's asking them to but becoz another party holds the ENS corresponding to the channel

Something we’re considering. ENS also has its own share of squatting. But I’m generally in favor of giving people options.

Yes at least in the web3 space most big brands already own their ens, so it would solve the issue in the near term

 but agree it's just kicking the can down the road  when tradfi orgs like Disney etc might also want their own  channel
