We still haven't figured out what we are selling and who we are selling to, but we keep growing DAU bit by bit.

I would has assumed we would have "cracked" it by now (or no one would be using it). Unconventional for a social network.

Scale out or scale up? I can see scale out working, i.e. multiple communities not one huge community.

Sure. Just slowly. More permissionlessness required though to let others curate community themselves.
