PSA on Farcaster usernames (fnames)

- Existing active users will keep them with the mainnet migration

- Inactive and squatted usernames will be released after migration; we will swap if you previously requested

- Remember, fnames are free and centrally managed; use ENS if you want a decentralized option

Good question from @tbi:

- If you have an fname but you choose to use your ENS, you'll keep you fname as long as you stay active.

And active is you're using the app within a 60 day period. Might bump to 90 days. The goal of the policy is to be directional. Really trying to target usernames that are squatted

What meets the definition of “using the app”? Is scrolling enough? Engaging with posts but not Casting yourself?

So “active” here is using the app, not necessarily having the active badge? Asking as someone who reads frequently but doesn’t cast as often. 😅
