Just out of curiosity, which parts are not yet permissionless /decentralized? For example, where are posts and comments currently stored?

Anyone can build an app. We recently shipped Hubs are they are nearly permissionless. 10 or so running right now. Ethereum smart contracts are on testnet moving to mainnet this summer. Sign ups are gated, will be permissionless later this year. https://i.imgur.com/aTmWglJ.png

Cool! So Hubs are where casts are stored? Is it in their local sql databases and they need to keep in sync, or is there some other type of database being used? ๐
