That's a bit of a weird analysis. When you look at absolutes, the numbers don't seem to have changed that much for Trump, while there's a mass abandonment of Dems all out. Admittedly not all votes are counted yet, but that's how it seems so far.

No, not in absolute numbers. You're looking at percentages but less people went out to vote, because both Dems and GOP represented only the right.

I think reasons are many, but probably: - More felt effect of inflation in 2024 - Palestinian genocide - Biden ran slightly more populist & made some promises such as student loan debt forgiveness etc, that earned votes but that he didn't keep - When economy isn't good, people blame the incumbent. In 2020 they blamed Trump, in 2024 they blamed Biden (both deserving IMHO) Obv this is my hypothesis, not all of these are backed by data, though some are
