New channel model has me thinking about when conflict happens: v1 (hide, warn, ban): direct conflict over content, after the fact. "mods are hiding all my posts!" v2 (curate): indirect conflict, sometimes long after the fact. "mods are shadowbanning me, why isn't my post in main?!" v3 (membership): direct conflict before and after. "mods won't let me in!" and "mods kicked me!" v2 was alluring because it seemed to reduce conflict, but I think there is something like a conservation law of moderation here: you can move it around, but it will always happen somewhere.

Also stealing. Inline with my friction.observer thesis that most all helpful friction is constant. If you take it away in one spot, it just appears somewhere else.
