have we talked about composability? apps with embedded wallets inside apps with embedded wallets so you won the big pot on a @ponder prediction market. Well done! are you withdrawing the funds to your Warplet? are you withdrawing funds from your Warplet to Rainbow? are you doing the copy-paste dance across apps and devices? @vitalik.eth ‘s “one address per app” statement was in the right direction, but issues of account management (beyond asset holding) become obvious. throw the new @coinbasewallet in the mix and UX friction increases. I’d be keen to hear @dwr.eth and @henri take on how is Alice navigating all this. (thoughts inspired after hanging our with @sheldrake and @accountless.eth today)

Alice will use an app and the app will have a wallet. She won't really think about where it's "hosted". Just what functionality it provides.

I can’t tell if you’re saying this from the perspective of Farcaster, an app builder or Alice’s. if it’s the latter, the issue is outside the scope of one app. I’m sure you have wallets in many apps and activity across multiple chains. how are you keeping track of what’s what? does Alice currently have a useful stack? this is about account management, the wider space in which asset management is a sub-group.

I'm saying that most consumers don't have a pre-existing crypto wallet. They will onboard to crypto by using an app that has an embedded wallet. The idea that all consumers will have a dedicated crypto wallet as their the core of their onchain UX isn't going to happen. The market is clearly showing that given virtually all consumer apps launching now have an embedded wallet.

that’s cool Alice joins Fc. she gets a warplet (which has to be funded) she recives some tokens (from games or aidrops) takes part in the social scene 💃 her tokens increase in value, she gets frustrated with the composability, because the nesting in my diagram can be reversed she still lacks the stack to make sense of the growing complexity now she’s the same as existing power users in web2 she relied on email clients, browsers and password managers and that stack isn’t very advantageous past a certain point she will end up maintaining a spreadsheet, which is what the market has told us so far
