My sense is Elon is correct that the hardest thing about self-driving at-scale is doing it an affordable car. That's why he ditched most of the expensive Lidar and is focused on vision. Underrated is Elon approaches the hardware problems at SpaceX and Tesla from a cost basis vs. invented in a lab at Google.

Yeah definitely early and expensive, excited to see how it progresses in the next few years though, humans should be freed up to focus on higher-leverage jobs
