Yeah Jonny Ive focus on aesthetics is insane. When left to his own devices he built a gold Apple Watch. 

Great quality when paired with other strengths in the team. Product has to be good first. Though just function isn’t enough…

I like Ive and he was/is an extremely influential designer but Apple made the worst cables in the industry lol.
