@v in retrospect, do you think that, overall, the decision to go with EdDSA signers was a good one? I get the performance gains argument, but limits how these signatures can be used by smart contracts. Should we move to ECDSA or maybe add support for ECDSA signers?

You can't legally store ECDSA keys in the cloud without a license in the US.

do you store eddsa keys in the cloud right now? I thought I signed up with my own private key and passkeys for recovery aren't stored by you?

eddsa aka signers are in warpcast cloud ecdsa is on your mobile device in a passkey

not sure I fully understand the architecture of Farcaster but is it not possible to store the signer key pairs in Warpcast clients locally? As long as it can sign messages and send them to the cloud?

technically, yes more complexity and hassle? yes eddsa key in this case is no different than an oauth token
