Unlike the days of tumblr or pre-algo social, 90% of my followers were my music fanbase. I always loved being transparent answering questions. In that spirit. Friend or Stranger. Ask me anything.. https://zora.co/collect/zora:0xaecf7d807b137eae8c67d24c4e0e66c1e6319266

Of the beatmakers & producers whose work you’ve admired over the years, are there common attributes of who they are or how the came up that makes their creative output so good?

Just waking up so I’ll return to this with more thought but upon first reaction. A few common attributes. Most Common being objectively the worse for the public and that’s the Dopest Producers I know Hoard all their best work for some reason. I have a theory as to why but the next attribute is Struggle.

What I mean by that is music, especially production at the level we take it is therapeutic response to feeling like you have 100% control which is powerful in a world where so much externally is out of control. It’s something that the energy you put in has guaranteed results in terms of the process.

Where this magical self help life hack therapy loop becomes compromised is the step that is expected of society next. Releasing that creative output into the public. Which now more than ever feels like the dominant form of having zero control so it’s become the arch nemesis of the creative soul that uses the creative process as a survival tool.
