Hesiod (flourished at 700 BC) was one of the earliest Greek poets, often called the “father of Greek didactic poetry.” Two of his complete epics have survived, the Theogony, relating the myths of the gods, and the Works and Days, describing peasant life. A famous quote is written at Theogony: "Πρὸ δὲ πυλῶν ἀρετῆς ἔθηκαν ἀθάνατοι ἱδρῶτα." "Before the gates of excellence, the high gods have placed sweat" As a poet is amazing yet so simple, suggested that hard work and perseverance are essential for achieving excellence and success.
