Interesting though does it make sense to build games on Solana due to one single state? Mostly seen Solana folk being proud about fintech-like apps and DeFi. Is blockspace really that generalisable?

That is a question for the !6877 folks to answer. But already the chain has a decent number of games running on it. People are already working on creating about entire gaming worlds on blockchains. I guess there is no stopping innovation.
