Dilettantism is to perceive the ordinary as extraordinary. Every work of art is a gift, no matter how mediocre. In this sense, it is much like a hallucinogen or opiate. It is unhealthy. In art, we must discriminate good from poor; expert from novice.

For me at least, it is mostly the actual act of attempting something. My words don't accurately convey what I'm saying but it's that energy that manifests prior to a potential thing that then happens that holds the electricity. The attempting has a enormous value.
