John williams is a great author but I do believe Butcher's Crossing is the weakest book of his main 3 Stoner being the best with Augustus closer behind

Read all three last year and they are in my queue to be read again. I usually give paper books away once read. Stoner might me cry a little at the end and I'm still annoyed at how the protagonist behaved the way they did (no spoilers here). It's a wonderful book.

Stoner is one of my favorite books, i wrote a little about both works here (i’ve yet to read Augustus!) https://paragraph.xyz/@drewcoffman/017

Stoner is on my top 5 as well! High quality book that came at the right time for me Augustus follows similar issues of existentialism, how we operate in the world, etc. but its format is a series of letters which is a nice switchup

From the present moment , indeed! I caught the trailer for Butcher's Crossing but it did not make me want to watch anymore. Augustus is literally awesome, especially the last quarter. (Getting a frame error when I tap subscribe.)
