the topic doesn't warrant an entire video... a state machine simply describes an apparatus that can only have specific combinations of properties. the traffic lights at an intersection are my favorite example: they aren't allowed to all be green at once, but they can be all red. there are rules baked into the state machine the more you write code the more you will encounter situations that are elegantly addressed by this pattern. it's just a good way to model data (state) in your programs
