GM Frens!
To promote the Nigerian Community on @phaverapp, I've decided to focus more on Nigeria's diverse cultural heritage. And today, I want to share some cool stuff about the different languages spoken in Nigeria.
Did you know that Nigeria is super diverse linguistically? There are over 250 ethnic groups and folks speak more than 500 languages! Yep, you read that right π
A lot of Nigerians speak multiple languages, like their native language, English, and sometimes other regional languages.
All these languages reflect Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and history. Pretty amazing, right?
Here we go...
Official Language:
β’ English: used for official purposes, government, education, and business.
Major Languages:
β’ Hausa: spoken by the Hausa people in the north, with over 30 million speakers.
β’ Yoruba: spoken by the Yoruba people in the southwest, with around 25 million speakers.
β’ Igbo: spoken by the Igbo people in the southeast, with approximately 20 million speakers.
