OKAY my albatross of a project intertwingler.net is very *very* close to viable. like on the order of hours (on the meter, not the wall clock—a distinction that has to be made because the last 6 weeks have been a cavalcade of disruptions).

there is no doubt going to be a whole schwack of massaging and upstream-patch open-source diplomacy over the next few weeks before there's an installation candidate, but i just fired up the daemon for the first time.
