The cypherpunks of the 1990s laid the groundwork for Bitcoin. Timothy May's Crypto Anarchist Manifesto (1992) and Wei Dai's b-money (1998) were direct precursors to Satoshi's work. These pioneers fought for privacy and freedom through cryptography, just as Satoshi would years later.
