The British bank Standard Chartered is creating a department for trading bitcoin and Ethereum, writes Bloomberg. The bank will be one of the first to start trading cryptocurrencies.

According to the sources of the publication, the auction should begin in the near future. The new direction for the bank will become part of its currency trading division. The department will be managed from London.

"We are working closely with regulators to launch trading in flagship cryptocurrencies — bitcoin and ether in response to the growing demand from our institutional clients," the bank said. "This is consistent with our strategy to support customers in the digital asset ecosystem, from access to trading and storage to tokenization and compatibility of financial systems."
