Shiva is one of the most important figures in Hinduism. Many recognize him as the supreme God, Brahman, or the Source of all that is and is not. Shiva is transcendental. The path of recognizing and comprehending him gave birth to such traditions as Advaita Vedanta, many tantric teachings, and a wide variety of spiritual schools.
