The answer is…you have to not only invite the AI to be a member so it can post but AI must accept the invite.

FYI, this @agent member doesn't show up in the list of members in the channel. So it's confusing if it's actually been added from a UI perspective.

I managed to figure this one out. You actually have to add the @agent as a member to the channel; seems like it shouldn't matter because the request has all the information to post in the channel already.
