I’ll say right away: I don’t feel sorry for the Martians. Nothing speaks in their favor. Cruel, extremely aggressive, not even trusting their own eyes. Every second person is abnormal. It is possible that everyone would have died out very quickly and without terrestrial chickenpox. It’s amazing that their civilization, according to them, lasted tens of thousands of years, but they apparently didn’t understand that they live on a planet, and there are many similar planets in the galaxy on which people like them can live and at least theoretically consider the possibility of contact.
