SEC Chairman candidate Paul Atkins faced harsh criticism at his Senate hearings. For example, Senator Elizabeth Warren accused him of conflicts of interest, ties to FTX, and potential opacity in the deal to sell a stake in his company. Atkins was also criticized for mistakes during the financial crisis and was required to present a plan to compensate the SEC for losses. In response, he promised to develop clear crypto regulations and reform the Commission.
