Streak 6.1 At the time of writing Neuroscientist Professor Susan Greenfield along with researchers at their lab Neuro-Bio ( https://neuro-bio.com/ ) developed new brain imaging techniques which helped give new insights into how the brain processes visual versus auditory information. To my understanding, despite being in two different cortical regions the cellular structure associated with visual and auditory functions are similar. There is a volley of blips across the brain triggering action potentials initially caused by retina for vision and the cochlear for sound. This research using optical brain imaging techniques led Greenfield to hypothesise, could vision be related to discrepancies in space, while hearing linked to discrepancies in time. This was beyond Greenfield's area of expertise namely physics, astrophysics & mathematics. From what I could find the lead was not developed any further.
