i remember having the public/private likes convo with @dwr.eth when warpcast was rolling out the “likes” tab on the profile. he said it was a discovery tool. i said it was a cancellation tool. we all know how every debate with @dwr.eth ends. interesting X will now move them private. thoughts?

RE: discovery v cancellation - it's both. The "like" button (ironically a heart) is outdated. The emoji style reactions on LinkedIn are more useful (and I feel horrifically dirty saying that). An auto-generated measure, tethered to replies (i.e., replier clout, keywords, and sentiment) would be interesting.
