Most family members want you to succeed but they just don’t want you to surpass them 
And when you do it becomes upsetting for them 
Then it turns to jealousy and all that

i've always heard

'most friends want you to do well, just not better than them"

the ones who are genuinely happy for you you need to keep around at all costs

It's even better if you're not related by blood, they'll support you as you move up in life unlike your relatives who want to drag you down lol
