"Maslow's hierarchy of needs" The theory is a classification system intended to reflect the universal needs of society as its base, then proceeding to more acquired emotions. Maslow's idea suggests that the most basic level of needs must be met before the individual / society will strongly desire (or focus motivation upon) the secondary or higher-level needs.
