Lived in Chicago about 15 years. If you're coming to visit there's lots to do and see downtown but I highly suggest you get out to the neighborhoods: West town, Pilsen, wicker park, Lincoln square... each has it's own character and beauty

Not to diminish the draw of downtown. There's plenty to do and the architecture is beautiful/world class. But i think the 'essence' of chicago is in the neighborhoods

Yes! Neighborhoods are where it's at. I feel like a lot of people who visit only go downtown, and that's not really a big part of most local's lives 1000 $DEGEN
