1) FTX

FTX, once a top cryptocurrency exchange, collapsed in November 2022 after it was revealed that billions in customer funds were misused.

The scandal began with a leaked balance sheet showing FTX's financial ties to Alameda Research.

Bank run lead to bankruptcy.

Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX, was sentenced to 25 years for defrauding customers of billions. Arrested in the Bahamas in December 2022, he was extradited to the US.

The collapse took a huge toll on the industry.
