What’s walletconnect’s business model?

Concerned that all of mobile web3 infra is based on VC money with no decentralized protocol behind it.

WalletConnect v1 was using Waku which is the successor to Whisper messaging protocol in the original Ethereum yellowpaper. WalletConnect v2 is post VC funding and seem like it will have a API payment model, which is a major downgrade IMHO. I will stick to v1.

Yeah, I heard about this...I think most apps will just stick to v1. Connecting a wallet should be a public good & table stakes, not an Avenue for rent extraction. Though I understand they have to build a business.
