Each year, the BEP processes over 30,000 claims for damaged currency, totaling millions of dollars. The most bizarre cases include:

- Money that has been eaten by pets or rodents
- Currency that has been buried underground for decades
- Bills that have been damaged in fires or explosions

The BEP uses specialized techniques to reconstruct and authenticate the damaged currency, and if it's deemed legitimate, they will replace it with new bills!
