It’s really great for feeling the warm fuzzies. The world is just so cheerful, and being able to tame and befriend a dizzying array of powerful beasts is a very heartwarming power fantasy.

It’s not very difficult outside of PvP (which is entirely optional), and the darker themes are more subdued than in more mature games, so there is little stress involved.

I personally mostly play video games to relax so Pokemon is very good in this regard

A grown-up person would probably play Pokemon because they’re looking for a kinder and gentler experience than the games marketed to more “mature” audiences. Sometimes you just want to chill, not grapple with deep moral issues or test your skills to the limit.
