Farcaster is really community first, rather than technology first.

Almost feels like Bitcoin vs bitcoin starting to take shape, Farcaster the collection-of-users vs farcaster the app/venue/protocol/platform. IMO Farcaster is popular because it's a nice community but farcaster doesn't care* whether a community that uses it is good, it's just in the business of providing utilities.

*Naturally farcaster wants there to be some civility and value on the platform, hence the gated invites. But I mean that they can't/won't ban individuals from using farcaster, they may just boot people off _this_ instance a.k.a. Farcaster
