(sharing here first) I made an app to visualise live data across 20+ blockchains. https://evmbeat.com

Like many others, I've seen Mintscan's Heartbeat page and thought: "Woah, that's pretty cool". Unlike others, I was crazy enough to try to replicate that for Ethereum ecosystem. I also didn't want to spend too much time on it while also trying to make something useful AND not a complete rip-off of the Mintscan page.

How do you show real-time data across blockchains without copying Mintscan? My main insights were showing blocks as… well, blocks, showing block fill percentage, adding tooltips with more context, and toning the whole thing down a bit.

Besides that, it just polls for new blocks every 500ms, and fetches them one by one. Ideally, I would optimise the data fetching a bit, but ran out of time for this project.

This whole project was harder to finish than I expected. Working on a visual language without copying someone's else homework is tricky. Animating everything while not turning it into a blinking nightmare required patience. Getting the metadata for each chain took hours.

Thankfully, viem's built-in chains and providers helped A TON. If you're still using ethers, imo you're missing out big time.
