very pretty but do ginko nuts smell like dog crap to you when they are rotting? i am turned off by the smell.

:) it's actually only the female ginkgo tree that can smell so foul (the female ones produce the fruits). the ones on this pic were male so no smell. yeah it's not very pleasant to me either, it's because of butyric acid in the outer flesh of the fruit .. kinda like vomit/rancid butter; it gets particularly bad when they rot. then again the nuts themselves are healthy. I like to eat them when it's prepped right. that foul smelling shell needs to be removed.
