So, I haven't used bankr yet....Is it that it creates a trading wallet you have to fund from your FC connected wallet, but your receiving wallet is your FC connected wallet and the purchase shows up in your FC wallet?

Almost! It creates a Bankr wallet for you which you can top up with ETH from any wallet. Then it buys the coins from that wallet and sends them to your FC connected wallet.
