warpcast wouldn't directly connect with you hub but if you send messages, they will get gossiped out into the network, picked up by warpcast hubs, and then synced into Warpcast

Why not allow warpcast to select which hub it was talking to? Is there another api that warpcast uses then what is exposed by Hubble?

yes the architecture for a fully featured client like Warpcast is to have it's own backend + db that ingests data and servers hubs have some basic endpoints not meant to build a high performance application with algo feed, optimized media, etc directly off of
