With 900M MAU, Telegram stands as perhaps the largest distribution channel for Web3 users and ranks as the 5th largest and 2nd fastest-growing messenger, establishing itself as the top crypto communication app.

Every non-US user automatically receives a crypto wallet when registering on TG - the perfect channel for user acquisition. 

This seamless integration positions Telegram and the TON ecosystem as prime candidates for driving Web3 adoption at scale.

WeChat Comparison

WeChat, the Chinese super app, showcases growth at the intersection of social apps & gaming. 

Users can chat, pay bills, order food, and more. The lack of alternatives led to 80% of Chinese using WeChat an average of 80 minutes daily.

In 2017, WeChat introduced mini-apps, leading to the launch of mini-games by Tencent and later third-party developers. 

To boost user acquisition, developers could purchase ads across Tencent's ecosystem but despite growing to over 7k mini-games by 2018, MAU remained around 20M.

👉 WeChat is a natural but imperfect comparison. Unlike WeChat's extensive data collection with Tencent aiding ad targeting, Telegram and TON track less data, making ad targeting inherently less efficient.

Telegram Expansion

After integrating HTML5 compatibility for Telegram bots, the development of the TON blockchain kicked off in 2017. 

The Goal: Provide key features to further reduce friction for users and developers.

TON Ecosystem

Through TON, developers can access payment rails, decentralized storage for in-game assets, or smart contracts for secure and automated game mechanics. 

All while efficiently distributing their content to a community with 900M MAU.

Notable TON Games

Few teams have recently captured Web3 culture and meta as well as Notcoin, a major catalyst driving TON’s ecosystem explosion. Their social presence grew rapidly, positioning them to launch on Binance and debut with a market cap of over $1 billion.

As a tap-to-earn game with an incredibly low participation threshold and 95% token distribution to users leading to over 2.4M on-chain holders, $NOT’s growth skyrocketed.

Incremental games have existed long before Web3. Cookie Clicker, released in 2013, peaked at 1.5M players in Aug 2013 & still averages 15k DAU.

The most recent example, Banana, has remained the top most-played game by concurrent users on Steam for the 2nd month in a row.

Catizen stands out among the top TON games. With extensive WeChat game development experience, the team attracted over 20M users in just 2 months.

Since 2018, they have developed over 20 mini-games, generating more than 300M downloads across WeChat, Google Play, and Meta.

Catizen is also the top game by in-game revenue through IAPs on TON. Over $10M in TON has been sunk into the game by their 2.7M DAU. About 50% of the 1.25M on-chain users are paying customers, putting the average spend per player around $170.

▶️ With a 7% conversion rate, the game surpasses the average Telegram game conversion rate of 0.66% by over 900%.

HamsterKombat also shines with its social presence. No game matches its community engagement, averaging 2.2M impressions, 20k likes, and 2k+ retweets per post. 

The game has attracted over 200M users to date with a simple tap-to-earn gameplay loop, where players mine $HMSTR coins as the fictional Hamster CEO of a crypto exchange.

Gamifying their YouTube, the team releases two 2-minute videos a day: one covering crypto news while the other is an educational video. 

Implementing hidden clues within the clips, users are captivated and continuously engaged which has fueled exponential growth⤵️
