"The Pianist" is a memoir written by Vladislav Szpilman immediately after the end of World War II and silenced by the Soviet authorities for years. Translated into Ukrainian for the first time, this book became the basis for Roman Polanski's film of the same name, which won an Oscar and the Palme d'Or, the most prestigious award at the Cannes Film Festival.
