8 years?!?! I think mine is <2 years old. I think we can request replacements every 3 years where I work.

Im pretty frugal. I bought a personal laptop a couple years ago for <$700, but I only use it occasionally for stuff (mainly crypto) that I don’t necessarily want my employer monitoring.
